Lately I’ve been hearing terribly critical remarks about Owen Sound. These comments seem to focus on the group of unhoused and addicted people in our midst.

I live downtown. Whereas there is no doubt poor and troubled folks are present downtown, I have experienced no violence nor dangerous  behaviour. (If anything, they appear to be most harmful to themselves.)

What do you think?
Do these people pose a threat to you – and/or to the general population? If your answer is yes, where should they be? Who is responsible for them if they are unable to care for themselves? Do we have the necessary addiction and other services to address their issues?

Let’s discuss this on Oct 9, and generate ideas we can pass on to the City, as well as the agencies involved.
